Homemade Desserts

My name is Alicia Cowans (b.k.a. Lisa), and I am the owner and CEO of Sweet Treats Baked Goods located in Upper Marlboro, Md.

 

I started baking cakes, brownies, and making Rice Krispy treats in my early twenties. I've always wanted to learn how to bake a cake from scratch and the first try was an epic failure. As time progressed, I learned to make various cakes from scratch and can doctor up a box cake too! Some family members and friends encouraged me to start "taking my talent seriously" and start a business because they truly enjoyed my desserts.

 

Well, I got the courage to do so and Sweet Treats was birthed. I can honestly say that I have seen much improvement from where I started and know that it only gets better from here. A wise friend told me, “don’t despise small beginnings” and I hold that in my heart because I believe that God has great things in store for me and my business.

  

As a baker, I thrive to provide quality and delicious desserts for my customers to enjoy as well as to give exceptional customer service from beginning to end. I believe communication and integrity are the especially important attributes that I use in my personal and business life. I try my best to always be willing to learn, grow, and develop as well as be teachable.

    

One of my mottos is Homemade desserts for your enjoyment……because everyone loves a little sugar every now and then!  Always live life sweet because sour does not cut it.
